Together for animal welfare: Donating moving boxes to Memmingen Animal Shelter
On 13 September 2026, Memmingen Animal Shelter opened its doors to the public. Many visitors took the opportunity to meet the animals, take a look behind the scenes and find out more about the shelter’s work and animal welfare in the region.

For the third time, DACHSER & KOLB supported the open day by donating boxes for the shelter’s flea market. The moving boxes serve a very practical purpose there: they help collect donated items, keep them safe and get them ready for the flea market.
Our boxes are designed to safely transport belongings that people value and hold dear. At Memmingen Animal Shelter, they fulfil another important role. They keep things organised, protect the donated flea market items and make them easier to transport and store. In this way, they support a flea market whose proceeds directly benefit the shelter’s work and the animals in its care.
There was also plenty to enjoy beyond the flea market at the open day. The Top-Dog-Show and the search and rescue dog team gave impressive demonstrations of what people and animals can achieve together. Younger visitors also had plenty to enjoy, with a raffle, a bouncy castle, face painting and pony-drawn carriage rides. Coffee, cake and a range of tasty treats offered an opportunity to chat and enjoy the day together.
The focus was on the animals and the people who care for them every day. Staff and volunteers shared insights into their work, answered questions and showed how much dedication goes into meeting the animals’ needs, caring for them and finding them new homes.

By donating boxes, we support this work in a way that allows us to make a practical contribution with our own materials. This is now the third time our boxes have supported the shelter’s flea market, where they are needed time and again.
We thank the team and the many volunteers at Memmingen Animal Shelter for their daily dedication and are pleased to be able to support the shelter’s flea market again this year.
